1 Introduction
The report presents the analysis and verification of the lintel considerated as simple supported beam with a concrete section and span length 5% greater than the clear span of the opening.
The analysis of the loads was carried out by evaluating the loads that intercept the loading area located above the lintel, defined by an equilateral triangle with a side equal to the calculation span of the lintel. This assumption stems from the ability of the wall system to develop the arch effect, since since each side wall of the opening is greater than the half span of the lintel.
The loads that intercept the loading area were projected onto the lintel, obtaining the nominal values of the actions acting on the lintel. These actions were combined to obtain the design values of the loads, using the relevant coefficients defined in the input data. From the structural analysis of the lintel, the internal forces were obtained for which the flexural and shear resistance checks has been carried out. The details of the analysis and checks are collected in the following paragraphs.
